Determination of Chlormequat in Agricultural Products with High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Tandem Mass Spectrometry

Abstract
Chlormequat is a two quaternary ammonium compound that is used widely as a pesticide for various plants. LC-MS/MS using WCX cartridges was used to identify and quantity the level of chlormequat in agricultural products with high sensitivity and specificity. A calibration curve was obtained from 10 ng/mL to 200 ng/mL with a satisfactory correlation coefficient of 0.999. The limit of detection and limit of quantitation for chlormequat in matrix the were 0.0002 mg/kg and 0.001 mg/kg. The recoveries of chlormequat from spiked samples at 50¡­500 ng/mL ranged from 94.4 to 111.6% with a relative standard deviation between 1.7 to 4.5%. The measurement of uncertainty of the LC-MS/MS method developed for chlormequat was based on the analytical process and quantification. An analysis method that is easier and faster than the chlormequat analysis method of agricultural products in the Korean Food Standards Codex was developed. The analytical method of chlormequat in agricultural products by LC-MS/MS was established.
